Introducing New Gaucho Network
We invite you to take a sneak peek at the Gaucho Network, an online networking platform being rolled out this summer that will serve as the hub for Gaucho alumni and students to connect professionally.
After easily registering with your LinkedIn or Facebook account info, you can post jobs for fellow Gauchos and volunteer to answer questions about your industry and company. Once we launch our industry network groups, you'll be able to connect with alumni in your industry to share info about conferences or events you'll be attending or articles and news happening in your professional world.
Feel free to reach out to Karen Ravago-Ballaret, Director of Alumni Professional Engagement, at karenrb@ucsb.edu with any questions or feedback.
Donor Spotlight: Bill Pascoe '67 and the SAE Memorial Scholarship
Bill Pascoe '67 is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and has been heavily involved in supporting and organizing the SAE Memorial Scholarship. He was former Alumni Board President from 2006-2007. Pascoe has also been an attorney for 46 years in Marin County. His contributions to this scholarship have helped many Cal Eta students of UCSB.
The Cal Eta chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded at Santa Barbara in 1949. Cal Eta Alumni have made significant contributions to the nation as leaders in the fields of scientific exploration, education, local, state and national government, finance and philanthropy. It is this service to the nation, to UC Santa Barbara and in memory of those members now departed that is the hallmark of the Cal Eta SAE Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship assists an undergraduate student with financial need who has shown a resolve to give back to the community and demonstrated strong leadership abilities by being elected to office by their peers.
There are approximately 40 donors whose donations cover a broad spectrum of giving from $20 to $10,000 with a significant number making donations each year. The scholarship award is presently $3,000 which is approximately 10% of the average cost of an undergraduate education. While honoring the memory of those who have gone before us, it also looks forward to renewal through leadership. In its broadest sense, the scholarship speaks to honoring, supporting and serving one another. It is a message worth spreading.
